An early exposure to nature and the intricate relationship between all living things were the major influences that pointed Taylor White in the direction she has taken as an artist. The rapid rate at which man is altering and destroying that chain is of great concern to her.
Taylor believes personal experience and first hand observation are essential to creating a painting with enough feeling to project the viewer into the piece. While her compositions are mainly imaginary, they spring from very specific places and events. She has spent many hours in the mountains of northern New Mexico, Colorado, and Wyoming, as well as the southeastern states, studying and sketching locations for her compositions. To help with accuracy of anatomy and feathers she also works from actual specimens when available.
She has studied with some of the most outstanding instructors in the country. However, she feels her best learning experiences have come though love of animals and wildlife, and a determination to portray them realistically in oils.
Her paintings have been accepted in juried competitions and exhibitions in which she has received many awards. Her work can be found in private, public and corporate collections throughout the United States and Canada.

"I enjoy being in the field collecting references as much as I love the process of painting-seeing a two-dimensional image come to life. I enjoy putting down an emotional response, the awe, excitement, and wonder for the natural world around us. Through my work as an environmental artist, I strive to act as an advocate for nature by creating moments on canvas that evoke empathy from the viewer, inspiring him to realize his role in maintaining that precious balance."
